POET, LINDA MUNDELL
I donβt do prompted writing
It is too much for me
As my words are shy
Inspired but bashful
Cautious of the page
They donβt trust easily or freely
And like to come out at night to play
In dream-sleep, a hazy glistening foggy moment of peacefulness
My word lace their essence into a form only to vanish at dawn.
βUnless, by chance, my guard dog is down
Then my words can the play and dance into the morning of my consciousness.
The twilight of my mind.
But the guard dog of my existence is still alive and well.
Here to protect the innocent.
Prompts tend to feel like assignments, which is the opposite of how I write. My poetry emerges more organically, almost as a creative response to whatever is inspiring and giving me an emotional in the moment.
